GIVEAWAY: Edgar Allen Poe Adult Colouring Book, by Odessa Begay

Fall is approaching, which means longer nights, chillier days, and pumpkin spice everything. Also, Halloween! And thanks to the wonderful people at Lark Crafts, I’m thrilled to be able to announce a giveaway for a spookyscary macabre colouring book from Odessa Begay!

It’s filled with images inspired by Poe’s stories and poems, and it looks amazing!

Want to win a copy? All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, telling me your favourite spooky tale. Maybe it’s a horror novel, maybe it’s one of those stories you heard around the campfire as a kid. Either way, I want to know about it!

Contest is open to residents of the US and Canada only (sorry, my non-North American friends…), and all submissions must be received by 11:59 PM PST on Sunday September 11, 2016. Make sure I have a way to contact you (Twitter, Facebook, email address, link to your blog, etc) so that if you’re chosen as a winner, I can let you know. Winners must be willing to provide their mailing address so that I can pass it on to the publisher for the purposes of this contest.

  1. My favorite spooky stories were the collections called “scary stories to tell in the dark ” the illustrations were haunting!

  2. Oh! This one looks fabulous! I am not sure what my favorite spooky story is, probably varies on the day, but Tell Tale Heart is one of the most memorable for me.

  3. While I was a teenager in Indiana a tale was told about a young couple parked on a dirt road that was a short cut between two major roads. They were listening to music and watching the stars. They saw an outline of an old two story house in the swamp area next to where they were parked. They saw a light suddenly show in the upstairs window, like a lantern, all the frogs croaking in the swamp stopped. The light moved down to the down stairs, then the light was on the outside and went into the swamp. A little later they heard a noise from the back of the car. It was a scraping noise and went up close to the drivers door. They fired up the car and headed out of there fast. They headed to the local A&W a hangout area to meet teens. When the carhop came up to the car she screamed and pointed at the drivers door. Upon inspection the car had a long deep scratch and a metal hook was hanging on the handle of the drivers door.

Myself and a friend rode our motorcycles to the area and we went down that road with both lights and engines off to be quiet. We seat there listening to the frogs croaking and watched the old house. All was fine for about 15 minutes, then a light appeared in the house upstairs, when it did the frogs stopped croaking. The light headed downstairs and we headed out of the area fast.
This dirt road was a short cut to get to two different major roads. In the winter time the county snowplow drivers refused to go anywhere down that road. Seems that more then once they had experienced unexplained incidents.
Not a story but an actual incident that happen to me in my teens.

  4. Recently, I’m so into Stranger Things. It reminds me of the Stephen King books I read that frightened me when I was in my teens.
