This past month I tried to focus on getting through some SPFBO books, because now there’s only 2 months left of the first half of the challenge, and I was woefully behind. I feel much more comfortable now, having only 4 books left to read and review by the end of October.
This meant not focusing on any non-SPFBO books during August, and September and October will still have a couple of SPFBO reviews each, but now I think I can throw in other books and not feel guilty about it.
Strangers Among Us, edited by Susan Forest & Lucas K Law
5 books reviews, and I read 2 others as I reread some of the Wheel of Time series with my roommate, which isn’t really that bad, I have to say.
As usual, I took a look at some of this month’s releases that had caught my attention, whether or not I got to read them. I also wrote about the time and effort that goes into becoming a trusted reviewer, which I think a lot of people take for granted unless they themselves also review things regularly.
On top of that, I wrote about some health issues I’ve been facing (hurray for a new diagnosis?) that is still kind of making my head spin a little with the implications.
Next month I’ll be reviewing 2 more SPFBO books, and I’m going for 2-3 other books from my review copy pile.
At the very end of the month, leading in October, I’ll be visiting my family in the UK for a couple of weeks, which means long flights! Which means long hours in which I have nothing to do but listen to music and read books as I zoom over the Atlantic, but it also means that I’m not going to be around to post anything in early October. I’m going to reach out to a few people in search of guest posts, but if anybody has any appropriate topics they might like to talk about here while I’m gone, shoot me an email and let me know, because the schedule between October 1-13 is wide open. As such, much of this month will be spent in prep for that; in between normal reviews I’m going to try to have a review or two to post while I’m gone. Hopefully. We’ll see how much energy I have after everything else is taken care of.
Until then, folks, I hope your August was great, and I hope your September is even better. Have a pumpkin spice latte for me!
