Bookmark giveaway!

Time for another giveaway! This one doesn’t involve actual books, but it’s still book related. I enjoy making things by hand, diving into crafts and letting them eat up my evenings when I’m not working. It keeps my hands busy and happy while I’m watching a little bit of TV with my roommate, and in the end, I turn out some neat things every now and again.

So this is a giveaway for an embroidered bookmark, a pattern that I’ve been working on for a few evenings and that I really like the look of, so I’m hoping you will too.

My apologies for the not-so-great image. I borrowed my roommate’s iPod to get a picture, since I’m stll pretty camera-less.

The bookmarks are approximately 1.75 inches by 7.25 inches, including fringe, are done with 100% cotton thread on 100% cotton evenweave cloth. They’re unbacked, because the kind of embroidery I used (Swedish Weaving) doesn’t let the thread show on the back of the cloth, so there’s nothing unsightly to cover up. (One of the many reasons why I love it.)

Normally I sell these bookmarks for $5 apiece, but because this is a giveaway, you get the chance to win one for free!

  • To enter, simply leave a comment on this post. It could be anything, but bonus points are given for something that makes me grin. Remember to leave a way for me to contact you if you win (Twitter username/blog URL/email address/etc).
  • Giveaway is open internationally!
  • Open for entries from now until 11:59 PST on Sunday February 9, 2014.

And if you don’t like any of the colours of the bookmarks in the picture, never fear, because I have no problem making a new one in the colour of your choice. Don’t feel bad or awkward about asking for that, because this is a pattern I love to do and will be making more of anyway.

This is kind of a trial giveaway, by the way. If I get some interest in it, then I’d love to run a bookmark giveaway every month, with a different style and pattern each time. So if you like supporting small crafters as well as potentially winning free stuff, this is your chance to tell me! :p

  1. It would look strange to wrap one of your bookmarks around my kindle, but its been so cold, it might appreciate it!

(Seriously, I read enough paper arcs that should I win, one of your lovely bookmarks will see real use)

  2. Those are absolutely gorgeous! I make bookmarks on rice paper with a Japanese calligraphy pen–sometimes, when I’m feeling fancy, I add a little color with pencils or paint. Actually embroidering bookmarks sounds so much more crafty and complicated! (Also, I second the idea of swapping/sharing, because sharing is awesome and fun.)
