Happy birthday to Bibliotropic! Today, my dear book review blog turns 4 years old.
It’s gone through a couple of incarnations. It started on Dreamwidth under the name of Tea & Tomes. Then I made a mirror of that blog on Blogspot (minus some of the personal entries that would occasionally be seen on the Dreamwidth blog). Then the name changed to Bibliotropic. Then I moved it to WordPress. Now here we are, 4 years later, with Bibliotropic.net, a whole load of reviews under my belt, a tighter focus than what I started out with, and some life-changing experiences along the way.
Honestly, when I first started reviewing, I had no idea that I’d come so far. I started for no other reason than to chronicle some of my reading adventures, after the brilliant revelation that I read a lot and had thoughts and opinions about what I read, so hey, why not put them online? From there it just kept going. If someone had told me, then, that in 4 years time I’d still be doing this, have spent money on my own domain name, had conversations with authors whose books I love, and had blurbs from my reviews appear in actual honest-to-goodness novels, I don’t think I’d have believed them. Piffle. That stuff’s for big-league people, the people who get paid to do this stuff and make it their lives and jobs and work for big companies and get specifically invited to conventions!
It feels wrong to not celebrate this milestone, so hey, it’s time for a contest! Everyone loves a contest!
