NaNoWriMo 2013 Update #4

Wordcount goal: 50,000

Actual wordcount: 55,076

I think it’s safe to say that I made goal.

I was aiming for 60k, in all honestly, but things conspired against me to make that a touch difficult. First there was almost a solid week of pain that I had to endure, which didn’t make it easy to write (or do much else, for that matter) when I kept having to choose between being insensible from pain or being insensible from painkillers, and neither of those things are conducive to any writing, let alone good writing. And I had a tendency to slack off on my days off work, saving my writing for my shifts and more often than not writing nothing on days when I didn’t have a shift. Had I been a bit more diligent, I could have made 60,000 without much difficulty.

But I made the official NaNo goal, and that’s good enough for me right now. It took switching projects halfway through, but I did it. I am officially a winner!

And I’m still kind of fired up about writing, so I think I’m going to continue working on this for a while. I’m liking the way the story is going, and I’m bound and determined to finish a full-length novel one of these days, and this may be the one if I put my mind and hands to it!

So, all you NaNo participants out there, did you make goal?

  1. Congratulations on hitting the wordcount goal! Considering every other demand for your time and energy (the least of which, I would think, was your job), I think you deserve to feel like you’ve accomplished quite a feat. And, as cheesy as it may sound, you’ve inspired me to work harder on my own project. :)
