I’m kind of looking forward to the end of my blog hiatus. With the amount of books I’ve read these past few months, it’s going to be a bit of a weird return, I think. Honestly, I could probably write up 2 months of regular posts, and then not touch this thing again until those posts have run out. It’s like the hiatus will be extended, only not. Trying to wrap my brain around that hurts sometimes. :p
I’ve got to say, though, that given the events of the past month, I’m very glad that I decided in advance to take this blog holiday. Why? Know that tumour I mentioned, and its associated problems. Yeah, those aren’t getting any better. In fact, I’ve been off work for 3 weeks now, recovering from anemia. Anemia severe enough that according to my GP, I should have gotten a blood transfusion. But when all was said and done, I opted for a slightly slower recovery rate of rest and iron pills rather than the quick fix of the transfusion. I wasn’t about to die. Somebody in a car accident might, if they didn’t get the blood that I might have taken. I think I did the right thing, even if recovering has been slow and tedious and I’ve had to cut back a lot of expenses due to the lack of a paycheque.
But I’ll live. And I’m once again moving forward and hopefully my doctor’s newest solution will actually work this time.
But on to the bookish talk, because I know that’s why you’re here. I mentioned at the end of January all the books I had on the To Be Reviewed list at that point. That list has now expanded to include:
Exile’s Valor, by Mercedes Lackey
Son, by Lois Lowry
The Magicians, by Lev Grossman
I am Legend, by Richard Matheson
The Nightmare Affair, by Mindee Arnett
Exile, by Betsy Bornbusch
And I expect another 5, at least, will end up being finished this month, too. See what I mean by me being able to write about 2 months worth of posts once I return, and then I can just sit back and enjoy almost a secondary hiatus-that-isn’t? If I put my mind to it and have a day off work, I could probably even get all those posts scheduled in a single day!
And now, back to the couch. I’ve managed about 2 days in the last 3 weeks in which I haven’t needed to take an afternoon nap just to make it to bedtime, and given that I slept badly last night (battling anemia plus a cold? No thanks!), today’s not going to be an exception to that pattern!
Take care, everyone, and I’ll see you again in another month!
